About the Event

Faith is a constant theme in The Private Joys of Nnenna Maloney. We first meet several of the key characters while they are sitting in a teashop, plotting on how best to evangelize their fellow students. Over the past few years Dr Josh Bullock has researched the role and growth of non-religious assemblies, who meet – often on a Sunday morning – to share many of the characteristics of organized worship (e.g. community singing, listening to a talk, a time of reflection) just without the invocation of a deity. What characteristics do organised non-religion and religion share, and what could, and perhaps should, they learn from each other?

This week will be hosted by Dr Josh Bullock and Reverend Professor Sylvia Collins-Mayo.
