About the Event
The Riff Raff is an event for aspiring authors and lovers of new writing.
If you're currently writing a book, this is the event for you! We hear from five debut authors with a recently-published book - they discuss their journeys to publication, the obstacles they overcame to make it happen and offer up insider knowledge that will help you to get there too.
This is your chance to:
* Hear new work from exciting debut authors first.
* Seek inspiration for your own masterpiece.
* Discover how each author got published.
* Interrogate authors who recently made the leap onto Step One of that daunting publishing ladder.
* Snap up signed copies of books.
* And, most importantly, to make friends with people who understand that trying to write a book is HARD.

The evening will be hosted by: Amy Baker - Riff Raff Founder, host of The Riff Raff Podcast and author of Miss-Adventures: A Tale of Ignoring Life Advice While Backpacking Around South America and Jamie Fewery, author of Our Life in A Day.
Our line-up for the evening includes:
Naomi Ishiguro, author of Escape Routes - Characterised by its own brand of pleasingly unsettling magic, Escape Routes matches the inventiveness of David Mitchell with the fairy-tale allure of Angela Carter.
Alex Allison, author of The Art of the Body - a bold, unflinching debut about power and dependency exploring the relationship between a disabled art student and his carer.
Okechukwu Nzelu, author of The Private Joys of Nnenna Maloney - a funny and heart-warming story that covers the expanse of race, gender, class, family and redemption, with a fresh and distinctive new voice.
Alya Mooro, author of The Greater Freedom: Life as a Middle Eastern Woman - part memoir, part social exploration, this is a book for anyone who has ever felt like an outsider.
Alice O'Keeffe, author of On The Up - warm, witty and brilliantly observed, On the Up is about relationships and community, finding a way through the tough times, and figuring out what's really worth fighting for.
